-Part Time Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Assistant supports the daily administrative duties of the department.
The employee works closely with the Director assisting in recruitment (onboarding and offboarding), record maintenance, employee support and benefits administration.
Assists in implementation of a variety of training programs that meet the educational requirements for employees.

Must be able to work a minimum of 29 hours weekly with flexible morning and afternoon scheduling to cover department needs.
This is a non-negotiable item.
Must have regular and predictable attendance.
Supports all inquiries internally and externally for the department responding in a timely manner.
Maintains an excellent working relationship with Elected Officials, Directors, all departments' employees and Retirees.
Assists in identifying candidates for Township departments' job openings.
Assists in background, reference checks and board agenda items for new hires.
Assists in the process of new hire paperwork, benefits, cobra initial notices and state of Michigan new hire data entry.
Assists in Policy Procedures updates in manuals, financial data for defined contributions and Health Care Savings Plan Contributions.
Attends all board meetings that Human Resources Agenda items are being presented.
Some board meeting presentation may be required.
Schedules meetings, interviews, events and coordinates training sessions and seminars for employees.
Completes most Human Resource reporting including, ACA, OSHA, State of Michigan Driving records, SMART and employee random screenings.
Completes most termination paperwork and ensures e-exit interviews are sent out in a timely fashion.
Conducts all verifications of employments from mortgage vendors and previous employee verifications for reference check agencies.
Maintain employee files for annual updates of wages, promotions, or other employee activity through retirement or termination.
Handles most retiree inquiries on enrollment and benefit status updates.
Assist Director and Communications department with department newsletter on a quarterly basis.
Completes all employee change requests through BS&A.
Creation of time cards for all departments with hourly employees.
Serves as primary contact when Director is out for benefits vendors with the Blue's, EHIM, Burnham and Flower, Edward Jones and MERS.
All other assignments as given.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the position.
Current, Undergraduate or Graduate Students within the Human Resource, Public Administration, Business Administration, related fields or previous work experience.
Ability to learn and understand labor law and employment equity regulations.
Ability to attend some Human Resource, Labor Relations and Retirement seminars that may require overnight stays.
Excellent written, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
Ability to present agenda items and presentations as needed.
Excellent organizational, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
Works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines when needed.
Must keep up with the latest HR Industry trends.
Ability to be creative and open to new ideas and ways of doing Human Resources.
Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communications tools.
Ability to accurately follow directives given.

Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some travel to different sites; when visiting parks or construction sites the incumbent may be required to walk on uneven and slippery surfaces, be exposed to all weather conditions, dust and pollen, and mechanical hazards such as construction equipment; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends and may be required to travel outside Township boundaries to attend meetings.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
